TSIMSHIAN TERRITORY/PRINCE RUPERT, B.C. —The Lax Kw’alaams Band has signed a Benefits Agreement with the Ksi Lisims LNG project, a proposed LNG facility and marine terminal at Wil Milit on Pearse Island.
"Our vision for Ksi Lisims LNG has always been about creating long-term prosperity for all communities across northwest B.C.,” said Eva Clayton, President of the Nisga’a Nation. “This agreement marks a step forward in our relationship with Lax Kw’alaams – one based on mutual respect, shared success and economic prosperity.”
The Benefits Agreement includes procurement opportunities which build on the Lax Kw’alaams Band's existing business capacity and interests in order to maximize meaningful participation, long-term benefits and support sustainable economic development.

As part of signing the Benefits Agreement,the Lax Kw’alaams Band has withdrawn its federal judicial review[1] of Canada’s Decision Statement in connection with Ksi Lisims LNG's Environmental Assessment Certificate.
In addition to the Benefits Agreement, Lax Kw’alaams and Prince Rupert Gas Transmission Ltd. have amended and modernized their existing Project Agreement to reflect developments since the agreement was first signed in 2017.
KsiLisims LNG, meaning “from the Nass River” in the Nisga’a language, is aproposed net-zero liquefied natural gas project in British Columbia, Canada. Itwill be located on Nisga’a Nation-owned land on the northern tip of PearseIsland. Powered by renewable hydroelectricity, Ksi Lisims LNG is designed to beone of the lowest emission intensity LNG facility in the world with a pathwayto net-zero. The facility will produce 12 million tonnes per annum of LNG fromtwo floating LNG production and storage facilities.
