Ksi Lisims LNG granted substituted assessment process

Press Release
April 6, 2023

The Impact Assessment Agency of Canada has approved a substituted process for the Ksi Lisims LNG project. Substitution allows the Project to proceed under a one project – one assessment principle where a single environmental assessment is completed under a B.C. process that is revised to jointly meet provincial and federal requirements. The use of one assessment eliminates duplication while continuing to meet all federal and provincial requirements.

The project is designed to be the largest net-zero LNG export facility in the world. Once operational, Ksi Lisims LNG will produce 12 million tonnes of LNG per year. It is expected to create thousands of jobs within B.C., and provide substantial financial benefits to the Nisga’a Nation as well as to neighbouring Indigenous nations.
