Today Western LNG LLC (“Western”) commenced pre-FEED and basis of design activities with Shanghai Wison Offshore & Marine Co. Ltd. (“Wison”) pursuant to the previously announced Technical Services Agreement (“TSA”) between Western and Wison. This initial phase of the overall activities envisaged under the TSA will result in in the determination of key design parameters that will be used for early stage permitting work and information sharing with affected First Nations, local, provincial and federal governments, and the public at large.
Davis Thames, President & CEO of Western, said “We are excited to start the basis of design and preliminary engineering work on the floating liquefaction plant with Wison. They have substantial prior experience with floating LNG and other offshore process facilities that will be instrumental in streamlining our initial project work. With the information that will be developed during this stage we anticipate being able to commence key regulatory and permitting activities and to more fully assess impacts of the project on our neighbors, importantly as it relates to affected First Nations, so that we can incorporate any required mitigation measures early in the development process. This is an important step in our project development process, and we look forward to continued close collaboration with Wison and our other project partners.”
As a result of the basis of design and pre-FEED activities, Western and Wison will finalize selection of a process and process vendor for the FLNG topsides, which will permit them to finalize various aspects of the liquefaction plant design including primary compressor driver configuration, process cooling technology, and ancillary process flows. Other key parameters to be determined during this stage include storage tank configuration and capacity and the FLNG’s overall dimensions.
